TEMPTATION!

Women are like motorbikes – No, that’ll get me in trouble and I’ll be single for the rest of my life
Men are like motorbikes – No, that’ll get me beaten up and buried beside some lonely bush track
Relationships are like – nah, um, let’s see….I think I’ll start again.

Men, Women and Motorbikes all have one major thing in common – no matter which one you have in your life, there are always others around that you’ll see that gets you salivating and a little voice pops into your head and screams out ‘WANNIT’
Bear with me folks, I’ve just finished reading ‘Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance’ and I’m feeling a little phyla, philly, fille, sagelike!
What is it in our tiny little minds that, even when we should be happy with what we’ve got in our lives, there’s still the ‘evil’ side of us that want’s to sample another brand. Most of us stay loyal, whether it’s to our male, female or Suzuki, but there will always be the temptation to take another for a ‘test –spin’
And what happens if you have an accident? Well that just opens up another barrel of carbon I’m not even gonna touch!
Is it curiosity, bad judgement, or just plain stupidity that puts such thoughts into our heads?
Is it some primal force passed down from our hunter/gather forefathers that drives us on to search for greener pastures, even when we know that if we cultivate the land we’ve got, it will last us a lifetime? Is it that never-ending search to find that single something which we think and hope will make us feel complete?
Or do we have an ‘idiot’ gene embedded in our DNA at birth and it’s only this same primitive force that holds us back for fear of the unknown, a kind of primeval self-preservation?
Even if you find that perfect model, one that is in complete balance to yourself and you can picture the two of you travelling down life’s highway, following the sunset until fate pops in and you finally blow a gasket, occasionally you’re gonna be tempted.
It’s been said, ‘never give a sucker a choice cos they’ll invariably make the wrong one.’ So how do we know which choice is the right one, and what if we end up with three or even more choices? Do you follow your head, your heart, your gut, or is it a combination of all three? And what happens if this ‘other’ has ‘another’, the urge is still as strong, even stronger than it would otherwise be.
Sometimes it’s easy; you can feel it deep in your soul. The planets line up and all seems good in the world as the knowledge courses through you being that this is the one; this is the one for you. Even if you can’t have them!
Other times you can analyse all of the available data in your possession, power to weight, economy, extras, past history, etc, and still not come up with a satisfactory decision.
In the end I guess it will still end out the same, you’ll fang around having the time of your life playing with your new ‘toy’ for a few months until you turn around and bang; temptation hits you with a right cross in the jaw.
And no matter whether you give in or not, you’ll always feel a little bit of regret either way.

But that’s another story folks! 😃
